Ok I need help with a couple more problems... Solve using the multiplication principle: -12x = 72 x=? Using both the addition principle and multiplication principle, solve: x + 1/4 x = 10 x =?

aare these two separate questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if so, -12x= 72, divide both side by -12. This yields x= 72/-12= -6 for first question.

you can add terms with same letter components. so you have 5x/4=10 . multiply both side by (4/5), and you have x= 8.
