Can someone please explain to me in detail how to do these types of equations. for example find x and y if 2x - 3y = -2 4x - 2y = 12 I would be so grateful thanks!
There are different ways...Any way in particular?
Anyway in which you would think it will be easiest to understand so I can remember for exams lol
Okay, one sec:)
thank you!! :)
What you woulf need to do is first solve for one variable. Lets solve for Y! To do that look at X. You need to cancel the Xs out
How do you think you would do that?
You can multiply the whole equation buy a number to make the X variable opposite. For instance multiply the first whole equation by -2. and the Xs will cancel out making it easy to solve for Y. Then you just plug and chug!
An easiest way is called eliminationm the idea is to multiply the equations by a number that can help us to eliminato one of the variables for example what if I multiply the first equation by 2, and write it down.
and now if we substract those equations we can eliminate (cancel) X as you can see we got -0 for the x but we do have the other variable does it make sense to you now?
I will draw it on the board, one sec.
it would be -2 @ⒶArchie☁✪ and you have to ADD
Well i guess maybe both would work idk....
