Will Give Medal !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nathan, Joshua, Michelle, and Denise were in a room where a porcelain vase was found broken. When an inquiry was conducted by the building caretaker, each made a statement. Nathan: I did not break the vase. Joshua: Denise did it. Michelle: Denise lied when she said Michelle did it. Denise: Michelle did it. The caretaker knew that only one statement is not true and concluded that Nathan broke the vase. Describe in complete sentences the method you use to show that the caretaker made an incorrect conclusion. Will give Medal. Anyone Please Help Me.
@jim_thompson5910
Well how did Michelle know that Denise blamed her? If Michelle didn't actually do it than she would have simply stated who did it instead of trying to defend herself.
Well Denise said that Michelle did it.
@wendydarling96
yes but Denise spoke after Michelle did.
Joshua said that Denise did it.
Denise did it. Simple.
I need an explanation to why Denise did it.
@OpenSessame
Because that would mean that she was the only one who told a lie, everyone else told the truth.

I need to make statements showing how the care taker made a wrong conclusion.

Will give medal.
@OpenSessame Will give you medal if you help me.
Okay...:)
Can you help me?
Im trying!
Okay thanks.
Denise's and Michelle's statements contradict each other so one of the them must be the liar. Therefore, Joshua is telling the truth. Therefore, Denise broke the vase.
or...
Michelle and Denise are making diametrically opposed statements. Therefore, one must be correct, one must be wrong. That is the starting point. Because one of them is false and the other true, and only one statement of the four is false, we know Nathan and Joshua are making true statements. Joshua states truthfully then that Denise did it. Therefore you have shown the caretaker made an incorrect conclusion.
Thank You.
