Part I: Rewrite the equation for the magnitude of an earthquake, using the magnitude of 7.5 given in the problem: \[R = 0.65\log(0.39 \times E) + 1.45\]\[7.5 = .65\log(.39 \times E) + 1.45\]
Part II: Simplify the problem so that it is written in the form b = log(a) \[b = log(a)\]\[7.5=.65\log(.39×E)+1.45 \]\[9.307692= \log(.39E)\]
