A man travels a distance of 20 miles at 60 miles per hour then returns over the same route at 40 miles per hour. Find his average rate for the round trip in miles.

Distance = Rate * Time Rate = Distance / Time What was the total distance? What was the total time?
50 mph, duh...same route. only two speeds to deal with just do an average 60 + 40 divided by two= 50
Absolutely NOT 50 mph. Please rethink your response.
