If (8/a) + (2/b) = 1 , find minimum value of (a+b).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what the optimization is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm, okay I found it using optimization, I try to find another way, just give some time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, let me tell you hat I think... first, we need to have some restrictions at a and b to get the minimum of a+b, I mean a,b>0 by that. second, I could not find any way to find the answer unless if I used optimization ...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know what are the local maximum, minimum or diffrentiation ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay we can use the idea of the local minimum to state the minimum of a+b , the problem is we have to find the absolute minimum but not local to state the minimum value of the function , anyways the the function a+b has no minimum unless a,b > 0 so make sure this condition is given !
