OpenStudy (osanseviero):

Hello. I am having problem in a problem set. I need to solve this type of questions (not same numbers): cos( 135° ) sin(90°) tan( 135° ) sec( 30° ) cot( 60° ) csc( 30° ) How do I solve this without any other data (each one is independent), and without calculator? (please step by step, so i can solve the problems alone)

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

Help please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the unit circle

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yeah, these aren't really "solving" problems, these are all just common values that people either look up or remember after a while.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

youll have to memorize this later anyways

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

But I don't want to just memorize them, I want to understand them. How do you take each value?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you treat it as a triangle with a hypotenuse of 1. each 1/4 of the unit circle is split up into 3 triangles. youll have to memorize the lengths of the legs of the triangle

OpenStudy (osanseviero):

Ok, thanks

OpenStudy (psymon):

Yeah, there's a bit of memorization to it no matter what really. I personally remember it in a unique way without using the triangles, but many people use triangles.
