Find the range of given function: Question 1. f(x) = 2 / x^3 Question 2. f(x) = 7 / x^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

R-0 for both, just solve for f(x) and check the domain of the inverse

For question 1; I have a multiple choice answer of y cannot = 0; y>0; y<0; none of above.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y cannot equal 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. How are those 2 questions different from this one: f(x)= 7/x^2 where I put y>0 and got that one correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=\frac{ 7 }{ x^2 }\rightarrow x^2=\frac{ 7 }{ y }\rightarrow x=\sqrt{\frac{ 7 }{ y }}\] I chose the +ve root because 7/x^2>0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and surely you noticed that y must be>0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great - thanks!

you are welcome
