An Erlenmeyer flask is just a glass bottle with a narrow neck and a flat bottom. It is meant to contain solutions (a), to boil liquids over a Bunsen heater (c) or to make solutions by adding liquids (d). The only function that doesn't seem right is 'speed up filtration' (b). Are you sure about the question or may the question be: which function is NOT a function of the Ehrlenmeyer flask ? Greetz,

Hello! I would recommend that you ask this in the chemistry section, as it seems like the chem section will have people more up to the task of answering this! As for my opinion, I'm with @NLCircle. If you did have to pick one, though, I would think that it's main advantage is that you can move it around to mix it and it won't spill easily. Also, I read that it reduces evaporative loss due to the small neck - see the link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erlenmeyer_flask You can do a, c, and d with it, but I would think that its main use would be making solutions (because of the mixing without spilling easily) if you had to choose. Best of luck choosing. :)
