how to resolve memory problem in my computer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What's the problem with the memory? are you referring to a data storage device or ram?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my computer is unknowingly getting restarted with the appearance of blue screen. later when i trouble shoot, windows is mentoning me that there is a memory problem with the computer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There should be an error code accompanying the blue screen, can you post it? Have you tried booting into safe mode? also try to recall if you installed anything recently

OpenStudy (anonymous):

crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp This was probably caused by the following module: ataport.sys (ataport+0x1AFE) Bugcheck code: 0x19 (0x3, 0xFFFFFFFF87AEAB50, 0xFFFFFFFF85C3F318, 0xFFFFFFFF87AEAB50) Error: BAD_POOL_HEADER file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ataport.sys product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System company: Microsoft Corporation description: ATAPI Driver Extension Bug check description: This indicates that a pool header is corrupt. This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This might be a case of memory corruption. More often memory corruption happens because of software errors in buggy drivers, not because of faulty RAM modules.

"Usually this can happen due to a driver problem or a rootkit malware. Since you are booting fine in safe mode I assume it isnt a driver issue. I would suggest you try the below TDSKiller option How to remove malware belonging to the family Rootkit.Win32.TDSS (aka Tidserv, TDSServ, Alureon)? http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208280684 If it doesnt, try using System Restore, or Startup Repair. Startup Repair http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/startup-repair Do let me know once you tried the above 2 options"

Driver issues including a virus are #1 on the list for BAD_POOL_HEADER. A bad update, a conflicting update with something else, improper shutdown causing file corruption, and a virus being the top ones. Run a scandisk/chkdsk from a boot disk to look for file corruption. However, if it can't even boot from CD, then you start looking at the really odd cases. So what about the unusual case: If you can download and burn any sort of a memory check disk, it would be worth it. Almost any error can be caused by bad RAM because of an incorrect load. HOWEVER: this usually causes the errors to move around and NOT stay the same... unless it is a very low address that the OS uses predictably when loading drivers. Since what you are seeing is a driver error, this is remotely possible. Another way to test this is to physically move around the chips. If you have two RAM modules or more, you can switch which is in what slot. That will cause the logical addressing of the physical chips to be changed. If the error goes away r changes with the chip move, then it is likely to be memory. The thing to remember is that for BAD_POOL_HEADER it is usually NOT the memory. This is just worth checking because it is easy to do.... not because it will likely solve the issue.

I'd recommend you to remove one of your RAM sticks, and see if the blue screen disappears. If it remains, remove the other RAM stick while putting the one you removed earlier, back into place. If the blue screen disappears, then it's a problem with the RAM. You should replace it. However if the blue screen still doesn't disappear, then you may want to replace your Computer's RAM. Hope I helped, - Skai

thank you friends.
