How does diffusion differ from osmosis?

OpenStudy (sinbearciante):

Diffusion really has to do with the movement of SOLUTES from high [] to lower []. Whereas osmosis is the movement of the SOLVENT to equilibrate two areas of differing concentrations. Furthermore, diffusion usually has to do with gases (ie car fresheners) and osmosis almost always involves the movement of water across a partially permeable membrane.
