Is there anyway to factor this? x^2-8.64x+18.8356

OpenStudy (uri):

We use Quadratic formula.@DoYouHearThePeopleSin

OpenStudy (psymon):

There's only imaginary answers for it, though.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

I think it should be 8.68 instead of 8.64 :)

OpenStudy (uri):

We can factorize it maybe ...but idk what's the number when adding or subracting -8.64 or mutiplying..18.8356

OpenStudy (uri):

So i would use quad formula..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah it's a weird equation I know. But well I tried the quadratic formula and like @Psymon said there's only imaginary solutions for it. And I wasn't sure if when dealing with a parabola you could use imaginary numbers or not.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

If it is 8.68? Then use (a-b)^2! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I keep getting 8.64. Can I still use that formula?

OpenStudy (mandre):

You will only get imaginary answers. I made up a spreadsheet using numbers from 2.1 up to 6.9, i.e. dividing 18.8356 by a number to try to get 2 numbers which add up to 8.64. The lowest number is just over 8.68 then it starts going up. That means the answer to your question is "No" if you want real factors.
