70% of the counties of the particular state received some rain on Monday, and 65% of the counties received some rain on Tuesday. No rain fell either day in 25% of the counties. What % of the counties received some rain on Monday and Tuesday?

I think you can do this by a venn diagram! Do you know what it is?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

|dw:1376477571428:dw| So let the left circle be Monday and the right one be teusday! Let us take 100 counties for the sake of simplicity! So we know that 25 counties DID NOT get rain on both days. And thus 75 got rain! Some may have been common some may had had it only on one day! There is a formula: n(total) = n(monday) + n(teusday) - n(common) So what that tells us is that the total is monday + tuesday - (The common days) [BECAUSE IT HAS ALREADY BEEN INCLUDED ONCE] Okay, so we know total = 75 [Counties that DID recieve rain] And monday is 70 And teusday is 65 And so we have to find the common days! Thus 75 = 70 + 65 - common! Get common and that should be in my opinion the Answer! :)
