OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

You need the area of a rectangle and triangle formulas.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think he's written the hypotenuse of triangle as 8 cm

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

You know the area of a triangle = 1/2 * base * height! You are given the length of the rectangle and the right side part= 8cm! Thus the height of the triangle will be the length of the rectangle - 8!! AND THEN GET HEIGHT and use area of rectangle and the area of the triangle formula to get your answer! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but wait...thats not possible...

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@Mitch2014

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh...ok so height of triangle=13-8=5cm. now you can do it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A=1/2bh A=wh 1/2(11)(8)=44 117+44=161cm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmmm..height of triangle is not 8..it is 5cm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mitch2014

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

144.5cm^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cool :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i am right
