I need help with this equation on review! (7x^3 - 5x +2) - (5x^3 - 4x^2 +6x -7)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright do you know the first step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm honestly not quite sure what the first step is. I know I've done problems like these in the past, but it's been about three months since I've touched a math book.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha I know that feeling. So first you should add and subtract like terms (7x^3 - 5x +2) - (5x^3 - 4x^2 +6x -7) can be simplified to 2x^3 + 4x^2 -11x +9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are you asked to do? Simplify? find the factors?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I feel a little stupid now. The parentheses threw me off. It says to just subtract. Thank you so much!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha its an easy mistake, no problem!
