Calculate energy changes from experiments or from experimental data. Please help! I seriously don't know how to go about doing this. Thanks! any info will be much appreciated !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by the way, the topic is rate of reaction.

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Mind to give some more information? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well the question before was draw an energy profile diagram to illustrate endothermic and exothermic change. Thats all....its just 4 questions based on the rate of reaction and the teacher didnt conduct any experiments with my class. Thats why i'm so confused at this point :(

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Right. Well an endothermic process (is one in which energy is acquired as heat) at constant pressure has ∆H>0, while an exothermic process (one that releases energy as heat) at constant pressure has ∆H<0. I guess this is known?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i mentioned that for question 2. Proceed...

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Yea well if you have that knowledge you can also do a energy diagram that illustrate it right?

OpenStudy (frostbite):

(just slowly trying to find out what I'm going to explain/help with ;) )

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok sure take your time.

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Well I just write some stuff that come to my mind; say stop if I get to far away from the subject. Beased on what I said above we most be able to illustrate how an exothermic and endothermic process could like. The idea is shown below. |dw:1376507658967:dw| A way you can get to determine the change in enthalpy could be using an bomb calorimeter to determine the eternal energy and then just convert the answer to enthalpy.
