Solve the equation below for c a=b+c ----- d

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

first multiply both sides by d and what do you get ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to do that.

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

ok, this is how b+c d . a = ------- . d d what is that equal to ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C=ab+d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe?

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

you have da = b+c (because when multiplying 1/d . d/1 you cancel the d on that side

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

now to isolate the c you subtract b as follows da - b = b-b+c (b cancel on this side) and you have da - b = c so c=da - b

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

or you can write as c = ad - b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I get it now . Thanks!

OpenStudy (ivettef365):

yw :)
