an automobile traveling 95 km/h overtakes a 1.00km long train travelling in the same direction on a track parallel to the road. if the train's speed is 75km/h, how long does it take the car to pass it and how far will the car have traveled in this time? what are the results if the car and train are traveling in opposite directions?

OpenStudy (radar):

Since nothing was mentioned regarding the length of the automobile we can ignore it. The auto will be traveling with an effective speed with reference to the train of 20 km/h, it would appear that the auto could cover that km 1/20 hour or 3 minutes (d=rt), if they were going in opposite directions it would be faster maybe like around 15 seconds.
