substitution method: 3x+2y=-1 x-y=3

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Substitution meaning bringing x in terms of y (or the other way around), in the second equation!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't know hwo to break down the steps

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

In this case lets try with the second equation cause it seems to be easier! x = y+3 right? And then put this x value (y+3) in the first equation And put them in the first equation! 3(y+3) + 2y = -1 Now in this one we have only one variable y So we can obviously find out the y value from here right? :D

yes thank you

You're most welcome! :)
