what is quotient of 10 over 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

10 / 5 = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It should be -2 because u are dividing 5 by 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but what if they are both positive numbers ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are positive but 10 won't go into 5 so the answer is .5 I know I put -2 last time but I messed up sorry it is .5:)

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

The question is 10 over 5, which can also be stated as 10 divided by 5, or 5 divided into 10, or simply 5 into 10. The quotient is 2. If you turn it around and ask 5 over 10, or 5 divided by 10, or 10 divided into 5, or 10 into 5, then the quotient is 0.5, but this is not what the OP asked.

I was right then.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thought so i was like whatttt ? 0.0 lol thanks guys .
