Vector problem help. We were asked to get the proper value of the weight to prevent T1 to break. I will draw the details.
|dw:1376614554536:dw| where: T1 = 633.98N T2 = 232.05N T3 = 448.29N T4 = 366.03N W = 500N
Hello! Is this a physics problem? There is a physics section, that might be better for this! But I can help! The sum of all the tensions must equal the weight. Now, you said the question is to find the weight? Because you said the weight is \(500\ [N]\). In fact all the variables are known except for the angle. Do you have to solve for that? If you want to find if the chord will break, you need to know its tensile strength, I believe. And you'd check to see if the weight exceeded that.
Didn't knew there was a Physics section... xD Anyways, we already solved for it. The given first was only the weight and some of the vector values. Yes, T1 would break because it exceed the weight. We are asked now to find the " right " weight. We have to replace 500N now with those vectors given.
@theEric , still there? o.o
Ah, so the tensions are the maximum tensions before breaking? Okay. So! Do you have that angle then?
|dw:1376616104017:dw| a = 30 degrees b = 45 degrees c = 30 degrees
