can someone help me with this math problem -15x< 130 Solving Linear Inequalities

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide by -15 on each side and change the inequality sign

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

[you have to change the direction of the inequality sign when ever you mulitply or divide by a negative]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay can you break it down for me

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

-15x< 130 step 1 divide both sides by 15 -15x/15< 130/15 < now divide by -1 > answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so much

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

what do you get after the first step? -15x/15 < 130/15 <

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

can you simplfy -15x/15 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i really dont understand math it is hard ? i would not know where to begin

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't understand it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which part?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how to find the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-15x < 130 -15x / 15 < 130 / 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you mean you do not know how to do division?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i mean i did not know how to find the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-x < 26 / 3 x > -26 / 3 The inequality changes sign whenever you multiply or divide by a negative number, which in this case it is multiplied by -1 or divided by -1.
