Write an exploration of the theme of a book you like. For instance you could write an essay about the "folly of decadence" theme in the Great Gatsby, "The loss of innocence" in the Catcher in the Rye. Write about the underlying message of the book and what you think the author was trying to get across. These can be very fun papers to write.

Well it has to be a theme that is already in the poem. But the way the poem affects you probably indicates a theme that is present. What poem are you working with?
