Elaborately can you list down the steps to design a website from scratch and get it up and running on a server. please be as specific as possible. @dumbsearch2's response will be much appreciated.

Your server, another server, what? The server itself is a huge deal because come come with site building software... others you just have basic HTTP support and need to do everything by hand. Once you know what type of hosing is intended, then the design can begin. Designing a Joomla hosted site is completely different than say a Apache with Django.

@dumbsearch2 i run a music business. i want to design a website to maybe display all important stuff about my business. simultaneously i also want a mechanism by which anyone who has a query can leave his/her question and i can then reply to them at my convenience. that is the basic idea.

Alright, first you need to buy a domain name and a host.

http://godaddy.com/ does both and it's not cheap but affordable.

Alright, then get a domain name, server, hosting, and then just create a file called index.html which is your homepage.

then, you make all the other pages and link them together with <a>
