Triangles! PLEASE HELP https://media.glynlyon.com/g_geo_2012/4/page95a.gif Given: BOAT is an isosceles trapezoid. If BO = 12 and TA = 6, find the length of the median. 7? 8? 9?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the median is the average of them

OpenStudy (amistre64):

or just add the halfs ..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i mean, find the average of the lengths given ...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

since the formula is just: (a+b)/2, that amounts to adding the halfs: a/2 + b/2

And the question, If T = 130°, find O. Would this answer be O= 130?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Erm no that wouldnt be 8. I am still alittle confused where you get the halfs at.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

spose you had 2 unequal strings: 8: -------- 14: -------------- to make them equal, you would have to find the difference between them: 14 - 8 = 6 take half of the difference from the longer piece: 14 - 3 = 11 and add it to the shorter piece: 8 + 3 = 11 now they are both 11 long we could have gotten the same results if we had added the strings together: 14 + 8 = 22 and cut them in half: 22/2 = 11 so to find the median (the middle) of 12 and 6; we can simply add them together: 12+6 = 18 and divide them in half: 18/2 = 9

OpenStudy (amistre64):

im not sure how to approach the t=130, doesnt seem to be enough information to me
