Which question can be answered using the scientific method? A) Which type of dog food has more calories per serving: National, Dog's Best, or Good Chow? B) What color is the most attractive: red, blue, green, or yellow? C) Which type of pie is the best: cherry, apple, or blueberry? D) Which flower smells best: a rose, carnation, or tulip?
Only A can be answered because calorie is energy, which can be measured. The calorie has a definition, so it is not subjective. Whether something is attractive, tastey or smells best cannot be measured because it is very much subjective, that is, it varies from person to person.
If you were to choose one, this would be correct. However, the scientific method is merely a method that is testible, measurable and falsifyible. For example, hypothesizing the 'best' pie to be meat (which it is), choosing a number of people, getting them to judge what they consider the 'best' pie, and finding the results to deny your hypothesis is a completely valid scientific method
