OpenStudy (jack1):

help please? formula for Area of a Hexagon of side length "L"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

formula for area is A = 1.5dt where the length d is the distance between the parallel sides (also referred to as the flat-to-flat distance), or the height of the hexagon when it sits on one side as base, or the diameter of the inscribed circle. does that help you?

OpenStudy (jack1):

no, was hoping for one directly from sidelength

OpenStudy (jack1):

ie A = L x (something)

OpenStudy (jack1):

just so i'm not messing around with triangulation

OpenStudy (jack1):

@gio123 found it: A = (3 x sqrt3 x L^2)/2, cheers anyway
