How do I simplify this expression (2x) to the third power+2xto the third power

I multiplied 2* the third power it added up to 8 then I multiplied 2 to the third power it gave me 8 . Is the answer 16

\[(2x)^{3}+ (2x)^{3} = 8x^3 + 8x^3 = 16x^3\]

The answer 16x to the third power seems to be correct
