Calculus General Question I have seen groups of calculus students who do cheers - I wonder what they are saying......
Anybody know what cheers I am referring too. They remind me of cadences that soldiers do during marches.
Wondering if it is a technique used in teaching to help teach a concept, not sure

Like the quotient rule?
One chant we learned in calculus was the derivative rule for division.
"Low D high minus high D low over the square of what's below"
I know the quotient rule: lodehi minus hidelo over lolo
I guess I am looking for other ones to use
I do like the lodehi minus hidelo over lolo. That one actually works.
a pneumatic?
I heard of pemdas, Pleas excuse my dear aunt sally. SO CAH TOA
mneumonic?
Yes lol that. A memory device.
Maybe a pneumatic mneumonic. Memorization through air pressure? It could be a thing.
We once had all of the calculus kids come together for a huge review. They were from different schools. One group came in chanting. Really intimidate my group. I also, saw the same type of chanting when they were entering their calculus classroom when I went to visit the school for an observation. I did not hear the words or ask about it. Just wish I had asked what that was about during my student teaching days.
These chants, cadences, or whatever it was were probably used as a memory device.
brainwashing?
Like allstudents should take calculus or something
All students must* take calculus
some times you dont even need a mnemonic just drill it in thru repetitive chanting :D
calculus is destiny
no, not brainwashing. Yes, I have see the All Students Take Calculus. Except my class decided it should be All Sea Turtles Cry
Calculus is a journey
learning is in the destination, not the journey
apart from mnemonics i draw pictures. lik adding fractions |dw:1376717139813:dw|
