PLEASE HELP!!! determine the range of f(x)=13-20x-(x^2)-3(x^4) Also, find the max and min values of f(x) and STATE WHERE THEY OCCUR

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, your function is a polynomial so it's continuous and differentiable in all \(\mathbb{R}\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know about absolute minimum and maximum?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think that because this graphs as a parabola the vertex is the maximum but i dont know where the minimum would be

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quite right, think of it like a quadratic..well so it has no absolute minimum because leading coefficient (coefficient of x^4 which is greatest power) is negative and \(f\) can decrease without limit

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u just need to find local maximums and minimums of \(f\) which gives u the max of \(f\) |dw:1376753368381:dw| we have something like this
