@texaschic101

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

300 people under 40 100 exercise regularly and 200 do not 10% of 100 with high blood pressure = 10 15% of 200 with high blood pressure = 30 300 people over 40 200 exercise regularly and 100 do not 30% of 200 with high blood pressure = 60 35% of 100 with high blood pressure = 35 rate of high blood pressure of those who exercise = 70/600 = .1166 = 11.66% rate of high blood pressure of those who do not exercise = 65/300 = .2166 = 21.66% you might need a second opinion on this, because I am not sure if I did it correctly. My math does not equal the math to the problem. I have to say D.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@timo86m ...can you please check this out

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@oldrin.bataku ....please help

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

@Luigi0210 ...can you help

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

did I do the math right ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

70/300=23.3 Everything is given. It is B you have not to calculate anything, only you have to select one.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

the basic answer is there are more people who exercise and they are over 40 the people who are over 40 and that exercise are probably doing so because of health conditions (probably blood pressure as one main condition)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so this means that the "exercise" group is probably overrepresented by people who are over 40, which means that the results are skewed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in other words people who regularly excersise are older

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

oh...I see my mistake....it is not 70/600 it is 70/300.....

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes more or less, that's why the exercise group has a higher rate of high blood pressure

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

it is B then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

older people are more conscious of health may be due to old age or have health problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0_o

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when it should be a case where those who exercise would have lower rates of high blood pressure

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

thanks jim and surjithayer....I would have given the wrong answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks everyone :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just to be sure again its b

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have absolutely no idea how to do this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Expenses per month :- Rent =1090 $ Groceries(90*4) = 360 $ Utilities = 110 $ (Health+Car)insurance = 125 $ (340+410=750/6=125) Gasoline (25*4) = 100 $ Miscellaneous = 350 $ Phone = 95 $ Total = Find total and subtract from salary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2230

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The salary 2100

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ans is -230

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@surjithayer ok but, just so i understand, Total is 2230 so then what do we subtract?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2230-2100=230

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2100-2230=-230

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Income=salary Expenditure balance=Income-expenditure
