OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

Factor completely: −7x2 + 14x − 21 −1(x2 − 14x + 21) −7x(x2 − 2x + 3) −7(x2 + 2x − 3) −7(x2 − 2x + 3)

Factor out a like term from the equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-308

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the like term you see in the expression?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-7*2+14*-21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol -308 though^^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jenniferjuice have you figured out the answer yet?

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

not really :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok if we look at the expression given we can see the coefficients are 7, 14, and 21. Now we know what these 3 have in common is that they are divisible by 7. So the 1st thing we see is that we can factor out a -7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You understand so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The next thing you must do is look at the choices of answers you are given...the only two that old be possibly right are the last two

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could*

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next you have to look at the operators(signs) if we factored out a -7 then we have to see which answer when distributed will give us -7x^2+14x-21

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

so would it be ... −7(x2 − 2x + 3) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer would be -7(x^2-2x+3) => -7x^2-14x+21

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol I mean -7x^2+14x-21.....Hess your correct

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

oh okay thanks ! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Smh yes iPad keypad is messing up but last one is correct

OpenStudy (jenniferjuice):

haha okay :)
