How has the theory of evolution shaped world history?
The primary effect was that of the effect of Darwin's theory of Natural Selection. Darwin's cousin and close friend, Francis Galton, was fascinated by the concept and conceived of eugenics (he coined the term) to stop humans from sabotaging our own evolution. Eugenics became a major movement in England and the US. Nazi Germany sent a delegation to study California's eugenics laws (we had been forcibly sterilizing inmates before the 1927 Supreme Court decision, Buck v. Bell, made it official). The Nazi regime fashioned their original forced sterilization laws after the US "model law" that passed the Supreme Court test.
