Select the equations of the lines that are parallel to the line whose equation is y = 3x + 5. 6x + 2y = 12 -3x + y = 8 3y = 9x y = -1/3x

OpenStudy (jack1):

so the line is in the form y = mx +c which indicates it's a straight line, the y intercept is 5 and the gradient is 3 now if you wanted a line to be parallel to another line, what would have to be the same: y intercept? gradient? all the y values?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

gradient

OpenStudy (jack1):

cool, so which of the above possible answers has the same gradient?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b adn d??

OpenStudy (jack1):

1 right b does have the same gradient

OpenStudy (anonymous):

c

OpenStudy (jack1):

d has a negative gradient, whick means the slope is running downwards, so it cant be the same as our example which other has a slope of 3? b and....

OpenStudy (jack1):

spot on dude, c and b

OpenStudy (jack1):

slaters

tyty

OpenStudy (jack1):

no worries ;)
