why use fflush(stdin) in C programming language?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Code will compile but its behavior is undefined by the ANSI C standard. The fflush() function is only meant to be used on streams open for output, not input. Both fflush(stdin) and fflush(NULL) are completely unportable! Thus, it should not be used.

siddhantk3m8 is 100% correct. You would not use it. For a little more information and an alternative method, see this: http://faq.cprogramming.com/cgi-bin/smartfaq.cgi?answer=1052863818&id=1043284351
