HELP! summer assignment last question: Write the slope-intercept form of the equation of the line described. through: (2,-1), parallel to y = -2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If they are parallel, they have the same slope.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can see that If you create a graph, and plot the point, you will see that there is no slope. So the equation is easy. y=-2 is the first equation, and the equation you are trying to find is parallel to it.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

MattzSkatinn there's a difference between having no slope (ie an undefined slope) and a slope of 0

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

y = -2 is a horizontal line with a slope of 0 any vertical line has an undefined slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The point is (2,-1) so the equation is y=-1.

Sorry, thats what I meant, slope=0
