A person has decided to construct a frequency distribution for a set of data containing 60 numbers. The lowest number is 23 and the highest number is 68. If 5 classes are used, the class width should be approximately _______. A. 4 B. 12 C. 9 D. 5 @satellite73

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have no idea how to do this, but if there are 60 number between 23 and 68 then maybe you can say \(68-23=45\) and divide by 5 to get 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

actually that is probably wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol..okay thanks for being frank.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yw, sorry i can't be of more help i do not know what "classes" means

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If only five classes are created it means that there are \[\left( 60\div 5 = 12 \right)\] numbers in each class.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what of the number 23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They stated it to confuse the student most probably :P But I'm positive this is the answer...?
