The total number of students and adults at a concert was 460. The cost of tickets was $12 per student and $16 per adult. The total amount of income from tickets was $6520. How many students and how many adults were at the concert?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Alright so to solve these kinds of equations we need to equations with 2 varaiables And by saying that I am assuming you know how to solve simultaneous equations okay?? :D Alright so let No. of student: x No. of adult: y Thus we know total = x+y=480 -----> Eq.1 And per student price is: $12 And per adult price is: $16 And total money collected is: 12x+16y=6520. ------> Eq.2 Thus you now have 2 equations!, [YIPPEE] Just find The x and y values to find how many students and adults were there at the concert!! :D Understood? :)
