Question

Hi everyone... I'm a noob but learning everyday... I would like to know how to 'reset' all the annoying advertisements that pop up on nearly every web page. I assume its targetted advertising... (I may have gone to some porn sites (feeling very sheepish!))... please help!! Whilst I am not sick of seeing lovely scantily clad women, I really don't think its appropriate... especially when family members enter my room and see soft porn advertising bordering the web pages I view...

Try using Adblock plus....it is a browser addon which will make ur website add free

Hi impasse,
You should not get ads with lovely scantily clad ladies. I am so sorry. If you can send me an image next time - I'll take it up with Google.
Having said that, ads are the way we pay for the upkeep of this site and keep it free. If you have a minute, click on an ad - it will go a long way. Ad blockers are of course counter to all this.
If you like the site and want to support it, but dont want to see ads, sign up as a subscriber. (Go to settings) You will not get ads and you get recognized on the site!

@Preetha The ads he is getting have nothing to do with OS. He has a program on his machine that is doing popups as it detects web activity. This is a form of malware his computer is infected with. Once hos machine is cleaned, all he will see is the normal adds.

Thankyou everyone for your help!! I know it may be a bit off topic.. but I really appreciate everyones answers... I will try to stay more focussed toward computer science in the future... and when I get a job, I think I will contribute to this site.... I can't believe with my experience (6 years in the Army as a tank commander), and I can't find a suitable job in Australia... looks like I may have to go a scrub toilets until my University course in Computer Science starts in February.
