What is a Ratio that represents the area of the smaller rectangle in comparison to the are of larger one?

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

What do you think is the area of the small rectangle? [HINT: Leave it in factors] :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be x(x+2) right? so x^2 + 2x??

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Yeah but just don't solve it just yet! :D Okay now tell me the area of the larger rectangle! :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the larger rectangle's area would be... 2x(x^2 + 5x + 6) But you factor that to 2x ( x + 3) (x + 2) right???

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Perfect! :D Now just divide x(x+2)/2x(x+3)(x+2) x(x+2) gets cancelled! Giving us the answer as 1/[2(x+3)]!! :D Getting me? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh Alright! I understand what you have to do :) Thank you!!

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Great! :)
