Simplify: [10+15(2^3)]/[7(2^2)-2] Step 1 [10+15(8)]/[7(4)-2] Step 2 [10+120]/[28-2] Step 3 130/26 Step 4 1/5 Which is the first incorrect step? Explain the error.

Directrix (directrix):

Do you see a problem in going from Step 3 to Step 4? @Claire922 Step 3 130/26 Step 4 1/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats what i was wondering. Did it start in step 3 or step 4? @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

What is 130 divided by 26 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 @Directrix

Directrix (directrix):

Right. Simplify: [10+15(2^3)]/[7(2^2)-2] Step 1 [10+15(8)]/[7(4)-2] Step 2 [10+120]/[28-2] Step 3 130/26 ---> means 130 divided by 26 Step 4 1/5 ---> the error here is that the person did 26 divided by 130 and got 1/5. Division is not commutative. Order matters.

Directrix (directrix):
