what is angular momentum?

OpenStudy (kainui):

There are basically two types of momentum, angular and linear. Don't let the names confuse you, linear just means in a line. So imagine rolling a bowling ball. It keeps going in a straight direction, that's linear momentum. Now imagine taking a top and spinning it or a bicycle wheel off the ground and spinning it. They keep spinning after you let go, and that's angular momentum, because they are spinning through angles.
