Hopefully you'll learn that from the Colonial period to present day the situations and perceptions of the populace are entirely different. The hopes and dreams the settlers had for this country have changed over time and the results is something they never expected. Through civil war, women's suffrage, and many Supreme Court decisions more power has been given the Federal Government which today appears controlled by corporations and conservative think tanks. One must consider that the original think tank in this country was congress, whereas today they leave it to others.
