I have a math question!! y=x + 1; A (1,0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and your question is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is that one up there!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you've posted and equation and a point (i'm guessing)... but no question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is an equation I am suppose to use substitution and determine whether the point is on the line (because I am given a line and a point)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there's a question... so if you input the point to the equation do you get a true statement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know!! I am dumb at math I need someone to just explain this problem :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is not necessary I just need the steps to solving it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the point is given in a format.. x is first and y is second. so what's the x value of the point A? the y value of A?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, and don't say you're dumb at anything... just say you're learning

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1 and 0??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

excellent! now, in you're given equation you have y = x+1, right? so what you do is substitute the values of x and y from your point A into the equation and evaluate to see if it makes a true statement, in which case the value on the left side of the equation will equal the value on the right side of the equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your not you're

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooo okay I get it!!! thank you so much :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are welcome!!!
