calculate the slope of a line passing through (5, 10) and (3, 6) then state whether the nature of the slope is a positive, negative, undefined or a no slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope formula is \[\frac{ y2-y1 }{ x2-x1 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@heather040200 how do you figure out the nature of the slope?

OpenStudy (debbieg):

If the number you come up with (from the formula above) is a positive number, then slope is positive (so the line "rises" from left to right). If it's negative, then slope is negative (the line "falls" from left to right). If you get a 0 denominator, then slope is undefined (and the line is vertical).
