when you graph y=(8divided by 3)x-5 do you start on x or y axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=\frac{ 8 }{ 3 }x-5\]

OpenStudy (debbieg):

Not sure what you mean. It's a linear equation, so you need 2 points. Any 2 points. You could use the y-intercept (with is easily readable from the form of the equation) and the x-intercept (which you get by setting y=0 and solving for x), or any 2 points.

OpenStudy (debbieg):

If you mean, start at the y-intercept and then count up and over the rise and run of the slope, then I guess you "start" on the y-axis. That would be a way to do it as well.
