A recipe calls for 1/2 gallon of punch, 3 pints of club soda, and 2 cups of ice cream.

So we get:

1 gallon = 8 pints
1 gallon = 16 cups
1 gallon = 4 quart

So now let's add up all the things we have, we know we have 4 pints worth of punch (1/2 gallon) so if we add the other 3 pints we have a total of 7 pints which is almost a gallon, now how many cups are in one pint?
