A recipe calls for 1/2 gallon of punch, 3 pints of club soda, and 2 cups of ice cream. How many quarts does the recipe make

OpenStudy (ja1):

For starters, do you know how many cups and pints make up a gallon or quart?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is between 2 and 5

OpenStudy (ja1):

Ok so could you please set up a table like so: 1 gallon = x pints 1 gallon = x cups 1 gllon = x quarts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know but i have to have 2 3 4 or 5 qt

OpenStudy (ja1):

Yes but I am teaching you how to do the problem :) So we get: 1 gallon = 8 pints 1 gallon = 16 cups 1 gallon = 4 quart

OpenStudy (ja1):

So now let's add up all the things we have, we know we have 4 pints worth of punch (1/2 gallon) so if we add the other 3 pints we have a total of 7 pints which is almost a gallon, now how many cups are in one pint?
