Is Medical Scientist Training Program a good and solid program or should i take a normal Master and a normal PHD ?

Medical Scientist Program? Is that a program that you just get a certificate? If so, i think if you have the dedication, you should shoot for medical doctor. If you're seeking research, then Master and PhD. 
It depends on how long you wish to be in school. You have more options readily available with a M.S/ PhD degree than with just a certificate. Because those certificates are very specific for one type of job. While with a masters or doctorates degree, you can do more than one type of work. It just dpeneds on the the area of research you choose to work with.
