Math help. If a medium pizza costs $5 and a large pizza is $8, write an equation in standard form that models the possible combinations if you have $40. (Let m=medium and l=large.)
The problem seems to be very simple but i guess what i'm wondering is, does it HAVE to come out to $40?
Let's use capital L, so we don't confuse it with the number 1. If 1 small pizza costs $5, how much do s small pizzas cost? If 1 large pizza costs $8, how much do L small pizzas cost?
Chenline, since we are dealing with money I'm guessing as long as we don't go over $40 its fine.
id assume they mean, what is the maximum orders you can get for $40
5(0) + 8L <= 40, so the most L we can get is? 5M + 8(0) <= 40, so the most M we can get is? then as you vary by increasing M by 1, you would have to forfeit some amount of L and such
