MEDAL https://media.glynlyon.com/g_pal_2012/9/img_graph_boxandwhisker2.gif What is the interquartile range of the box-and-whisker plot shown? 54 45 43 34

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you see the end lines that make up the box of the box and whisker plot?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so that length is the interquartile range. the lower line (left) of the box is at the 1st quartile. the middle line (in the box) is the 2nd quartile, also known as the median. and the last line (right) of the box is at the 3rd quartile. the interquartile range is calculated by subtracting the 1st quartile from the 3rd quartile. does that help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Q_3 - Q_! = IQR (Inter Quartile Range)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Q_1 not Q_!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok..just a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

54??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's Q_1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

23

OpenStudy (anonymous):

77 - 23 = 54

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't think we're looking at the same picture... just look at the box. not the whiskers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where's the left edge of the box?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

66 - 32 = 34

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer= 34
